BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Manning, fumbling Giants hang on for an offseason win

Eli Manning and the New York Giants had a lousy 2017 season on the football field, but at least their offseason is looking up.

Three sports memorabilia collectors who accused the Giants, Mr. Manning and several other parties of giving them equipment misrepresented as being used during NFL games, which would increase their value, settled their lawsuit to resolve the claims days before a trial was set to begin.

The plaintiffs were seeking an amount triple their alleged losses, which totaled less than $20,000 combined, for buying two supposedly game-worn helmets, as well as punitive damages in relation to Mr. Manning allegedly knowingly providing the equipment – a claim denied by Mr. Manning and the Giants.

No settlement details were provided, but a joint statement by the attorneys for both sides said “the compromise agreement … should not be viewed as supporting any allegations, claims or defenses.”

The settlement resolves what has been a lingering problem for the Giants, who went 3-13 in the 2017 season, and Mr. Manning, who in an unpopular move was benched in November, breaking his streak of 210 consecutive starts at quarterback – second only to Brett Favre, who started 297 consecutive games.

We’ll just chalk this up as another win for the two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback.
