Damaged boiler delays coal plant's commissioning

Germany-based energy company Uniper S.E. said that a damaged boiler has pushed back the commissioning of a coal-fired power plant to 2020 due to damage to its boiler, S&P Global Platts reported. The boiler was damaged during initial testing of the plant in 2017. Commercial operations of the 1.1-gigawatt plant were due to start in the fourth quarter of 2019. The power station's non-operating impairment charge totaled $322 million in the first quarter.
