Sompo International exec Kuhn adds CUO duties

Sompo International Holdings Ltd. said Wednesday that John Kuhn, currently the company’s CEO for global insurance, has taken on the additional role of chief underwriting officer for Sompo International’s property/casualty business.
In this new role, Mr. Kuhn will lead the company’s insurance and reinsurance underwriting operations as Sompo International builds the overseas platform of its parent company, Sompo Holdings Inc., the Pembroke, Bermuda-based specialty insurer said in a statement.
Stephen Young, CEO of global reinsurance, will report to Mr. Kuhn and will continue as a member of Sompo International’s property/casualty executive team.
Mr. Kuhn joined Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd., the predecessor company to Sompo International Holdings Ltd., in November 2012 from Axis Capital, where his most recent role was chief underwriting officer for Axis Insurance.
Messrs. Kuhn and Young are based in Bermuda.
