Ice storm lashes Ontario, businesses close

An ice storm, which began on April 14, caused power outages, bus cancellations and school closures, flight delays, car accidents and floods in southern Ontario, Canada, Minden Times reported. Geoff Coulson, meteorologist at government agency Environment and Climate Change Canada, said that the storm continued to cause significant disruptions to the east of Haliburton County toward the Ottawa Valley and in northern Ontario on April 16. Businesses across the county were forced to close as customers stayed home and staff was sent home early.
