Insurance claims rise due to extreme weather in Czech Republic

Data from the Czech National Bank showed that the amount of claims settled by local property insurers grew more than 18% year over year due to extreme weather in 2017, Xprimm.com reported. The amount of claims settled by nonlife insurers increased 7%. The local insurers' association said that storm Herwart, which hit the country in October 2017, caused an estimated 1.4 billion Czech koruna ($68.5 million) in insured losses.
