Fuel theft costs Pemex $1.6 billion

Carlos Trevino, chief executive of oil and gas firm Petroleos Mexicanos S.A. de C.V., said that fuel theft from pipelines costs the company $1.6 billion a year, Mexico News Daily reported. The states of Veracruz, Puebla, Hidalgo, Queretaro and Tlaxcala, among others, recorded the most thefts. Mr. Trevino said that in some cases Pemex employees were complicit in the crime.
