Australia fines electrical appliances firm $3.5 million

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has fined electrical appliances firm Thermomix in Australia Pty. Ltd. more than $4.6 million Australia ($3.5 million) after a faulty product and poor safety compliance caused serious injuries to several customers, MyBusiness reported. The commission said that Thermomix did not notify customers until Sep. 23, 2014, despite knowing about the risk from July 7, 2014. Thermomix issued a voluntary recall of around 105,000 devices on Oct. 7, 2014.
