Japanese shipper pleads guilty to criminal cartel conduct

Japanese shipper Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd. has entered a guilty plea in the Federal Court of Australia to criminal cartel conduct, Maritime Executive reported. The charges against the company relate to shipping activity between 2009 and 2012 and involve vehicles transported to Australia from locations in Asia, the United States and Europe. The shipper's plea follows an investigation by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha is scheduled to be sentenced in November.
