South Korea likely to fine Apple more than $93 million

South Korea's Fair Trade Commission could fine Apple Inc.'s local unit more than $93.5 million for dumping advertising and marketing costs of its latest iPhones onto local wireless carriers, Pulse reported citing sources. Three mobile service operators SK Telecom Co. Ltd., KT Corp., and LG Uplus Corp. carried the same television advertisements for the latest iPhone 8 and X series released in November 2017 and paid for the airing. The operators also paid for various promotions at retail outlets and shouldered the cost for free after-sale repair service.
