Facebook fined for not cooperating with corruption investigation

A Brazilian judge has fined Facebook Inc. nearly 112 million Brazilian real ($33.5 million) for failing to cooperate with a corruption investigation in 2016, Reuters reports. The judge fined Facebook for failing to give access to WhatsApp messages exchanged by individuals under investigation for defrauding the healthcare system of Amazonas state in Brazil. The fine amounted to BRL 1 million plus interest for every day Facebook did not comply with the order.
