Lindsay Lohan suit against video game maker hits dead end

The Lindsay Lohan lawsuit against the makers of the video game Grand Theft Auto V had a good run, but a New York Court of Appeals judge on Thursday tossed out the 2014 suit that claimed a paparazzi-dashing movie star character named Lacey Jonas was based on the film star, celebrity site TheBlast.com reported Sunday.

Ms. Lohan’s suit was filed over the character who appeared in a part of the game called “Escape Paparazzi.” The character skyrocketed to fame but was often fodder for the tabloid media and, in the video game, was chased down by camera-toting followers documenting the sultry, fictitious star’s arrests and other shenanigans.

“Sounds familiar,” a reporter quipped.

Ms. Lohan’s case survived a motion to dismiss in 2016; a New York Supreme Court judge eventually ruled against Ms. Lohan, a decision that was affirmed in the state’s appellate division, the website reported.

Could the case speed over to the U.S. Supreme Court? “Seems unlikely,” the site reported.
