Doctor suspended by New York workers comp board

The New York State Workers Compensation Board has suspended a doctor for failing to maintain an adequate medical record.

Dr. Dhimantkumar G. Mankad’s authorization to treat injured workers within the New York state workers comp system was suspended effective March 26, the board said Tuesday in a statement.

Dr. Mankad, who practices in New Hartford, New York, failed to maintain an adequate medical record for a patient with a history of cardiac disease and hypertension. The patient came to him with complaints of ongoing right lateral rib pain radiating to the right chest and was pronounced dead after being sent home by him earlier that same day, the board said in the statement.

Dr. Mankad must successfully complete a continuing education program as directed by the Office of Professional Medical Conduct, according to the statement.
