Tenn. bill would not require comp insurers to maintain a claims office

The Tennessee Senate on March 19 passed a bill that would eliminate the requirement for workers compensation insurers to maintain a claims office.

S.B. 1615, sponsored by Sen. Jack Johnson, R-Brentwood, passed in a 32-0 vote and would also remove a requirement for workers comp insurers to contract with a state-based claims adjuster, according to the bill’s latest text.

The bill now goes to the Tennessee House of Representatives.
