Trump says government will sue drug companies over opioid crisis

President Donald Trump said the federal government will sue certain drug companies over the opioids crisis.

The president did not specify which companies he was referring to in his comments Friday after signing an omnibus spending bill to fund the federal government through the end of the fiscal year, which he said earlier in the day he was considering vetoing.

The bill includes more than $3 billion in funding to counter the opioid epidemic.

“Doctors are way down now in their orders of the opioids,” he said. “It’s a great thing. In our research funds, we’re also looking for a medicine that can stop the pain without the addiction so that people aren’t going to become addicted to these incredible drugs.”
