Electricity firm not liable for flood damage at university: Irish court

The judgment overturned a High Court finding that as a dam operator the ESB was 60% liable for the damage to UCC's properties. In a subrogated claim brought on behalf of its insurer U.K.-based Aviva P.L.C., the UCC claimed that the floods damaged 29 buildings on its campus. Aviva sought €20 million ($24.5 million) in compensation for losses at UCC and €14 million for losses suffered by other property owners.
