Cargo thefts rise more than 10% in EMEA

Data from U.S.-based the Transported Asset Protection Association showed that cargo thefts grew more than 10% to 2,880 incidents in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region in 2017, American Journal of Transportation reported. The total loss for these crimes exceeded €105 million ($130 million), while average loss amounted to €395,586. Take-up of the association's Facility Security Requirements certification grew 17% and Trucking Security Requirements certifications grew 41% due to the growing threat of cargo crime to supply chains across the region.
