UAE satellite firm to make 50% insurance claim for incorrectly launched craft

U.A.E.-based Al Yah Satellite Communications Co. PrJSC plans to make a claim for 50% of the insured value of its YahSat-3 craft after France-based satellite launching firm Arianespace S.A.'s rocket launched YahSat-3 into an incorrect orbit on Jan. 25, Advanced Television reported citing Satellite Finance. The claim could include the actual launch cost as well as the cost for building the craft. Rodolphe Belmer, chief executive of France-based satellite operator Eutelsat S.A., said that earnings from its Konnect Africa broadband-by-satellite service would be delayed due to the incorrect launch.
