Russia to shutter factories during FIFA World Cup

Russia plans to shut down dozens of big factories to prevent accidents and terror attacks during the FIFA World Cup, which begins on June 14, The Citizen reported citing media sources. A decree by Russian President Vladimir Putin in March 2017 said that special security measures should cover areas around the 11 cities hosting matches. A separate government directive applied the guidelines to everything from nuclear and chemical facilities to companies transporting hazardous cargo by land or sea.
