Markel recruits health care liability leader

Markel Corp. said Wednesday that Patrick Moylan has been named managing director, medical product line, where he is responsible for product development and underwriting in health care.

Prior to joining Glen Allen, Virginia-based Markel, he was senior vice president, head of health care professional liability, at Zurich North America. He is based in New York City and will report to Alan Rodrigues, executive underwriting officer, casualty.

“In his new role,” Mr. Rodrigues said in a statement, “Patrick will work with the Markel Assurance division to create opportunities for our medical product lines by offering protection for hospitals, tissue/blood banks, clinical trials, medical staffing companies and physical therapy and rehabilitation services.”
