Everest announces hires for new private nonprofit

Everest Re Group Ltd. said Tuesday it had formed a private, nonprofit unit as part of the expansion of its Everest Specialty Underwriters financial lines division.

Salvatore Collura, who joined Everest Insurance in November from Chubb Ltd., is in charge of building out the new unit. In addition, the company has hired five employees, all based in New York. Everest Re is based in Hamilton, Bermuda. 

Michael Truehart will be vice president and head the East region for the management liability team reporting to Mr. Collura. He joins Everest from Transatlantic Reinsurance Co. where he was an assistant vice president.

Nicholas Isler joined Everest in October 2015 as a director. Prior to this, he was responsible for managing multiple regions across the country with both Arch Insurance Group Inc. and Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. He will be responsible for the product suite and will report to Mr. Collura.

Micah Maravankin joined Everest in September 2016 from Chubb Ltd., where he managed broker relationships on both U.S. coasts and the mid-Atlantic region for their private company, nonprofit team. He has been named New York regional manager, reporting to Michael Truehart.

Justine Garvey has been appointed executive underwriter with responsibility for underwriting various types of insureds. Previously, she spent five years at Chubb Ltd. as a senior underwriter in the financial lines division servicing the East Coast. She will report to Mr. Maravankin.

Jonathan Tam joined Everest in July 2015 as an underwriting assistant in property and casualty lines. He will be responsible for underwriting various types of insureds and working with East Coast brokers. He will report to Mr. Maravankin.
