Qatari insurers not affected by economic blockade: A.M. Best

U.S.-based ratings agency A.M. Best Co. Inc. said that the economic blockade against Qatar since June 2017 is expected to have only a limited impact on the credit quality of the country's insurers, Middle East Insurance Review reported citing Gulf Times. The ratings agency said that the blockade has not affected insurance operations in the region, although investment markets have exerienced volatility. The insurers' balance sheet are well capitalized but "vulnerable" to investment market shocks, particularly in the face of heightened economic and political uncertainty, A.M. Best added.
