Hurricane Irma to cost French insurers more than $2 billion

France-based Federation Francaise de l'Assurance trade association said that hurricane Irma is likely to cost local insurers €1.8 billion ($2.3 billion), Reuters reported. "To date, insurers have paid nearly €500 million to repair the damage to property of individuals and businesses by hurricane Irma," FAA said. "More than 62% of the insured have been compensated," FFA added. Hurricane Irma struck the French Caribbean islands of Saint Martin and Saint Barthelemy in September 2017.
