Big companies face fines for stealing technology from SMEs

The South Korean government has said that large companies that steal technology owned by small and medium-sized enterprises would have to pay compensation of up to 10 times the damage incurred by the SMEs, The Korea Herald reported citing Yonhap News Agency. The government said that it will be up to the big companies suspected of stealing technology to prove that they did not infringe on the rights of smaller firms. The government added that it will slap fines on violators of non-disclosure agreements between big companies and their smaller counterparts over trade secrets.
