BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Chubb taps former AIG exec as chief claims officer

Chubb Ltd. said Monday that former American International Group Inc. executive Michael W. Smith has been appointed chief claims officer, effective immediately.

Mr. Smith, who will be based in New York, takes over from Frank Lattal, who will continue as senior vice president of Chubb Group and report to Mr. Smith, the insurer said in a statement. Mr. Lattal will also oversee the company’s Brandywine Holdings Corp. runoff operations.

Mr. Smith held executive leadership roles at American International Group from 2000 to 2017, most recently as chief transformation officer. He will report to Paul Krump, executive vice president of Chubb Group and president of North America commercial and personal insurance.

Mr. Smith will lead the company’s claims organization worldwide and be responsible for all aspects of executive claims management, service and administration for Chubb through its worldwide network of claims offices, according to the statement.
