Supply chain disruptions nearly double

A report by U.S.-based supply-chain software firm Resilinc Corp. found that supply-chain disruptions nearly doubled to 562 events across the world in 2017, compared with 298 in 2016, EPSNews reported. The report found that the disruptions affected 32% of Standard & Poor's 500 Index companies. Natural disasters and weather events such as hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria were a significant source of disruption globally. The automotive industry was the most disrupted segment, recording an increase of 30% in the events.
