Electricity authority warns of cyber threats to smart grid systems

The Central Electricity Authority of India has warned of cyber threats to the country's smart grid systems and called for the development of a cyber security framework to address the security needs in the power sector, The Indian Express reports. The CEA has recommended new "testing standards" for power utilities, the creation of a "test bed" at Central Power Research Institute, modified procurement guidelines for equipment used in power utilities and security audits of all Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems and Energy Management Systems.
