Media firm to pay $14 million for copyright infringement
Posted On: Jan. 26, 2018 3:53 AM CSTNigeria's Federal High Court has ordered South Africa-based media firm MultiChoice (Pty.) Ltd. to pay more than 5 billion Nigerian naira ($14 million) to the Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria for alleged copyright infringement, Music In Africa reported. The copyright society had demanded royalties from Multichoice following after the media firm had filed a lawsuit against the society in 2011. Multichoice had sought an injunction preventing the society from demanding copyright license for the broadcasting of music from its stations.
