Former Lockton exec to head AIG North America field operations

American International Group Inc. on Wednesday said Timothy DeSett will join the company in February as head of field operations for North America general insurance.

Mr. DeSett joins AIG from Lockton Cos. L.L.C., where he served as executive vice president of risk practices, with responsibility for overseeing Lockton’s national practice teams, the insurer said in a statement.

In this newly created position, Mr. DeSett will oversee AIG industry segment leaders, broker and client engagement, branch managers and North America zonal leaders, and will report to Ken Riegler, chief operating officer of North America general insurance, according to the statement.

“Tim brings a wealth of experience and adds to the great bench of talent at AIG. His background in distribution and underwriting, together with his proven ability to lead, will be great assets to AIG,” Mr. Riegler said in the statement.

Mr. DeSett is based in Kansas City, Missouri.

AIG President and CEO Brian Duperreault has recruited several top executives since joining the insurer in May.
