Los Angeles police policing its own on comp fraud

The Los Angeles Police Department has arrested two of its own in the past two weeks for suspected workers compensation fraud, the Los Angeles Daily News reported Monday.

Jason Gordon, a nine-year officer with the force who was found to be exercising while claiming temporary totally disabled status, was arrested on Jan. 17 for workers compensation fraud and attempted perjury, the Los Angeles Police Department told reporters.

Gerald Pully, an 18-year employee last assigned to the LAPD’s Records and Identification Division, was arrested on Jan. 11 on suspicion of exaggerating the extent of his injuries while receiving benefits, the newspaper reported.

The arrests are the result of investigations by the department’s Special Operations Division Workers’ Compensation Fraud Unit, according to the newspaper.
