Trump signs funding bill containing NFIP extension

President Donald Trump late Monday signed a continuing resolution to reopen and fund the federal government through Feb. 8 that includes a short-term extension for the National Flood Insurance Program.
The bill was signed by the president after the U.S. House of Representatives approved it Monday evening on a 266-150 vote, which itself followed Senate passage earlier in the day on an 81-18 vote.
The NFIP officially lapsed over the weekend after the failure to reach a deal in Congress to prevent the federal government from shutting down.
