Burger King Croissan’wich coupon suit settled

A court has ordered Burger King to provide refunds to those who ordered a Croissan’wich with a coupon during its promotion from 2015 to 2017 after a class-action suit found the fast-food chain duped customers into thinking they were getting a buy-one-get-one-free deal on a sandwich with an inflated pricetag, Fox News reported Monday.

Burger King denies any wrongdoing in the May 2017 suit that stemmed from Maryland resident Koleta Anderson’s complaint over the sandwich price, the network reported.

Ms. Anderson told the Today Show she discovered the discrepancy when she used a BOGO coupon to purchase two sandwiches and was charged $3.19 for a sausage, egg and cheese Croissan’wich. However, when she went back to buy the same sandwich without a coupon, she was charged $2.16.

In the settlement, the restaurant will give $5 or $2 gift cards to customers who “purchased two or more modified Croissan’wich breakfast sandwiches (without egg, cheese and/or a meat) from a Burger King restaurant, redeemed a BOGO coupon in connection with the purchase, and paid more than the amount that restaurant was charging at the time for a single, unmodified, higher-priced Croissan'wich," according to a Burger King statement.
