Cyclones Kai-tak, Vinta cause an estimated $50 billion of damage in Philippines

The Philippines' National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said that cyclones Kai-tak and Vinta caused an estimated 2.5 billion Philippine pesos ($50 million) worth of damage mostly in the Visayas and Mindanao region, The Manila Times reported. The council said that cyclone Kai-tak caused more than PHP 2 billion worth of damage to infrastructure and agricultural areas in Mimaropa, Bicol, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas and the Davao Region. Cyclone Vinta caused nearly PHP 492 million worth of damage, the council added.
