Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation Commission Executive Director Kim Bailey will resign effective Dec. 19, the commission said Wednesday.

Oklahoma City-based Ms. Bailey will be leaving her position to accept another role in state government, which will be announced later, the commission said in a statement. She has held the executive director position since 2015.

Patricia Sommer will serve as interim executive director while a search is being conducted. Ms. Sommer will temporarily step down from her position as an administrative law judge to take on the responsibilities of the interim appointment, according to the statement.

“I have worked with the WCC in various roles since its inception and watched it develop as an extraordinarily efficient state agency,” Ms. Bailey said in the statement.

“I believe I am leaving the WCC in a good place where it can continue to successfully implement the reforms passed by the legislature,” she said, referring to legislation that created the agency in 2013.
