Texas lifts post-Harvey workers comp disaster deadlines

The Texas Division of Workers Compensation said Monday that Workers Compensation Commissioner Ryan Brannan has lifted a bulletin that had guidance on deadlines and procedures for insurers in response to Hurricane Harvey.

The bulletin required insurers to continue to process and pay workers comp claims to system participants who reside in the counties listed in Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s disaster proclamation. The bulletin will be lifted now that it has been determined that it’s “in the best interests of the workers compensation system to resume normal claims processing and dispute resolution operations,” according to the commissioner’s statement.

All standard workers comp deadlines and procedures will go back into effect Jan. 10, 2018, according to the statement.
