Cyclone Cempaka causes $70 million of economic losses in Indonesia: Official
Posted On: Dec. 7, 2017 4:48 AM CSTSutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman of Indonesia' national disaster management authority, said that cyclone Cempaka caused $70 million in economic losses in Java, The Jakarta Post reported citing media sources. Mr. Nugroho said that the cyclone, which formed off the southern coast of Java at the end of November, damaged nearly 5,000 houses, 36 bridges, 21 schools and inundated more than 3,200 houses. It caused floods, landslides and strong winds in 28 regencies and municipalities on the island.
