Employers fined more than $200,000 for violating safety laws related to workplace fatalities

The fine includes all court-imposed payments for all parties. The figure is thrice as high as the median fine of CAD 97,500 for the country as a whole. Data from the Association of Workers Compensation Boards of Canada showed that 468 acute workplace fatalities occurred in Alberta from 2010 to 2015.
