Ironshore’s Joseph Boren to retire, Frediani to succeed

Ironshore Inc. on Thursday said Joseph L. Boren, president of the insurer’s U.S. field operations, will retire at the end of the year and be succeeded by David R. Frediani.

Mr. Frediani is currently president of Ironshore International and head of regional distribution, Ironshore said in a statement. He has been named president of U.S. field operations, strategic relations and global marketing, and will report to Shaun E. Kelly, president of Ironshore Inc. and CEO of Ironshore’s U.S. operations.

Mr. Boren’s nearly half-century of experience in the industry was dedicated primarily to the environmental sector, Ironshore said, and he is credited with elevating industry awareness of environmental risks. He joined Ironshore in 2009 as chairman of Ironshore Environmental to launch the unit’s environmental incident and liability risks products.

Mr. Boren was appointed president of U.S. field operations in 2011 and expanded Ironshore’s nationwide operations to 18 offices in six regions.

Ironshore said Mr. Boren, who is based in New York, will continue his work with the area’s nonprofit organizations, serving as chairman of Riverkeeper, an environmental watchdog protecting the Hudson River, and as board member of the New York City All-Stars Project Initiative, a national skills development program for inner-city teenagers and young adults.

Ironshore CEO Kevin H. Kelley said in a statement that Mr. Boren “is a highly respected industry leader and his commitment to environmental issues and protective actions have made an indelible impression on how our industry responds to this precarious sector of the market.”
