California’s Division of Workers Compensation has suspended nine more medical providers from participating in California’s workers comp system for fraud or other criminal actions.
The suspensions are in line with A.B. 1244, which went into effect Jan. 1 and requires the division’s administrative director to suspend any medical provider, physician or practitioner from participating in the workers comp system in cases that involve criminal activity or inability to perform duties safely, among other requirements.
Division administrative director George Parisotto issued suspension orders against Sathish Narayanappa Babu of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Uche Chukwudi of Gardena, California, Charles Ikechukwu Okoye of Carson, California, Adeline Ekwebelem of Gardena, California, Victoria Kim of Los Angeles, and Daria Renee Million of Corona, California.
In addition, the following providers participated in an illegal kickback scheme to issue medically unnecessary durable medical equipment prescriptions to Medicare patients: Victoria Onyeabor of Ontario, California, Godwin Onyeabor of Ontario, California, and Sri Jayantha Wijegunaratne of Anaheim Hills, California.
