Ironshore promotes Toby Smith to president of environmental

Ironshore Inc. has named Toby Smith president of Ironshore Environmental, the company said Tuesday.

Mr. Smith will lead the global environmental unit and report to Shaun E. Kelly, president and CEO of Ironshore’s U.S. Operations. He replaces John O’Brien following his recent departure from the company.

Mr. Smith was “instrumental” in the launch of Ironshore Environmental in 2009, the insurer said in a statement, and has held several positions in underwriting, marketing and distribution of the environmental unit’s products.

Ironshore has also named Kevin Fee to be chief operating officer for the environmental group, reporting to Mr. Smith. He was most recently the regional executive for the Philadelphia region and joined the group in 2009.
