Positive reserve moves take edge off cat losses for PartnerRe

PartnerRe paid out more than $472 million in claims related to storms and earthquakes. The reinsurer benefited from $187 million in favorable reserve development, which softened the impact of storm and earthquake claims on its bottom line.
