PartnerRe names chief risk officer

PartnerRe Ltd. on Wednesday said it has named Turab Hussain as chief risk and actuarial officer, effective Dec. 4.

Mr. Hussain succeeds Marvin Pestcoe, who will retire in 2018.

Mr. Hussain will have responsibility for risk management, capital modeling and reserving, the Pembroke, Bermuda-based reinsurer said in a statement. Based in PartnerRe’s Stamford, Connecticut, office, he will also be a member of its executive management team.

He will join PartnerRe from Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., where he has served as chief insurance risk officer since 2014, according to the statement.

“I am delighted to welcome a risk and actuarial professional with Turab’s technical background and experience to PartnerRe,” PartnerRe President and CEO Emmanuel Clarke said in the statement. “Turab’s experience in leading teams of actuaries and risk professionals as well as multidisciplinary teams across segments and business lines, make him an excellent fit for this role.”
