Everest Re posts net loss of nearly $640 million due to hurricanes, quakes
Posted On: Oct. 31, 2017 4:00 AM CSTBermuda-based reinsurer Everest Re Group Ltd. recorded a net loss of nearly $640 million in the third quarter driven by the recent hurricanes and earthquakes, The Royal Gazette reported. Everest Re reported a profit of more than $295 million in the third quarter of 2016. Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria and the Mexico City earthquake caused a net loss of nearly $898 million.
