Axis records net loss of $378 million due to hurricanes, quakes-related claims

Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer Axis Capital Holdings Ltd. reported a net loss of $468 million in the third quarter due to claims related to the recent natural disasters, The Royal Gazette reported. Operating loss totaled $446 million. Gross written premiums grew 24% year over year to $1.2 billion in the third quarter.
