Insurers plan to launch customized cyber insurance products in India

Indian insurers are planning to launch customized standalone cyber insurance products for local companies and organizations amid a rise in ransomware attacks, The Hindu Business Line reported. Currently, insurers primarily sell cyber threat products as part of bundled offers covering risks of "errors and omission", "computer crime" and "commercial crime," among others. Anurag Rastogi, member of executive management at India-based HDFC ERGO General Insurance Co. Ltd., said that about 150 to 200 companies in the country have taken out cyber insurance so far.
