Australia likely to introduce compulsory recall of vehicles fitted with Takata airbags

Australian government plans to introduce a compulsory recall of vehicles fitted with airbags manufactured by Japanese automotive equipment maker Takata Corp., news.com.au reports. More than 3.3 million vehicles have been affected by the Takata airbag recall in Australia, while only 950,000 have had their airbags replaced. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission wants all affected airbags to be replaced by Dec. 31, 2020.
