Mailman gets carried away with fraudulent workers comp claim

A New Jersey mailman has zip lined himself into workers compensation fraud. 

A U.S. Post Service employee in Cape May County has been charged with stealing more than $75,000 in federal workers comp benefits after vacation photos he posted on Facebook allegedly show him zip lining and rock rappelling while purportedly out of work with a wrist injury, Fox 29 reported on Monday.

Robert McGeehan, 59, was charged with second-degree theft by deception and third-degree insurance fraud in an indictment handed up by a grand jury in Trenton, according to the news report.

Between July 2015 and June 2017 McGeehan collected more than $75,000 from the Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs and the U.S. Postal Service by falsely claiming an on-the-job fall in 2008 rendered him medically unfit to perform his duties as a letter carrier, according to the indictment, accessed by the Fox News affiliate.
