Insurers receive $21-million in flood claims

Nepal's insurance regulator said that 15 nonlife insurers have received 607 claims worth more than 2 billion Nepalese rupees ($20.8 million) for damage caused by floods and landslides in August, The Himalayan Times reported. The claim amount is only a quarter of the total estimated loss incurred in the Tarai belt. Nonlife insurers received 291 fire insurance claims, 98 claims for engineering insurance of ongoing projects and 37 claims on engineering insurance of completed projects.
