Former Chubb CFO named to head Hilb Group

Richmond, Virginia-based The Hilb Group L.L.C. said Wednesday that Richard G. Spiro, former executive vice president and chief financial officer of Chubb Ltd., was named CEO.

Mr. Spiro, 53, replaces Robert J. Hilb, who has left the company to pursue other interests, The Hilb Group said in a statement. He has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance and financial services sectors, and was executive vice president and CFO at Chubb from 2008 to 2016. 

“Ricky has extensive leadership, strategic, operational, and financial skills that will further drive progress and growth in the organization as we continue to identify targeted acquisitions and strategic alliances that will expand our geographic footprint and build THG into the preferred provider of insurance to mid-size businesses,” Brent Stone, a member of the company’s board of directors and partner at Boston-based Abry Partners, a private equity firm that invested in The Hibb Group in 2015, said in a statement.

The Hilb Group is a middle-market insurance agency.
