NCCI recommends 10.3% decrease in West Virginia comp rate

The National Council on Compensation Insurance has filed a proposed overall average workers compensation voluntary rate decrease of 10.3% with the West Virginia Offices of the Insurance Commissioner.

In addition, NCCI has proposed an overall average assigned risk rate decrease of 8.7% effective Nov. 1, 2017, the NCCI said Monday in a statement.

The filing is based on premium and loss experience for policy years 2013, 2014, and 2015, according to the statement. Indemnity average cost-per-case figures “remain relatively flat in West Virginia, while a long-term upward trend has been observed in the medical average cost per case figures,” NCCI said.
