Japanese utility faces $5 billion lawsuit over 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster

Nearly 160 individuals have filed a lawsuit against Japan-based Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc. (Tepco) in a U.S. court seeking $5 billion compensation over the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster, Reuters reports. This is the second lawsuit against the utility in a U.S. court. Tepco is being sued for improper design, construction and maintenance, claiming compensation for physical, mental and economic damages.
